****IMPORTANT PLEASE READ****
There are still a number of accounts still outstanding from January & Februaury, despite email reminders and this logon page displaying a download link, people still have either not paid or handed in their standing orders. We have to state this is a community network, it only runs because of the revenue it makes, WE ARE NOT A BUSINESS who can afford to run without revenue, if people don't pay, the whole thing WILL shut down. Remember that we do all this for nothing it's on a volunteer basis and most of my time is already taken up with making sure the network is running as it should, rather than chase people for monthly payments. Therefore, if you have ANYTHING outstanding, including posting your standing order, please send to the address at the bottom of this page or provide a reason why you cannot pay right now, as we unfortunatly will now be restricting people so they will no longer be able to use their service.
If you haven't had an email, download the standing order below :

Online Gaming.
Online gaming has now been banned and the ports it uses blocked. Therefore, you will notice when you try to log on you will get a NAT error.
When we first started this project through to completion, we never advertised this service as a gaming service and while the block may dissapoint some, this is not like conventional broadband, this is a service with limited resources, if those resources are taken up to play games which in turn means others cannot get online to do basic internet tasks, then those customers will eventually not pay, this will cause the system to collapse and we all loose broadband because of a few people. Of course when we went to the council and asked them for over £50,000, if we would of told them the reason the village needs broadband is so people can play online gaming, we would of never got the funding!
Post Xmas, I did agree that people could play online after midnight, but this was ignored by some and they continued to play through the day causing the system to become unstable and through their sole actions I have had no option but to take it away from everyone.
Gaming was just a value extra to the the internet connection that customers had, please always remember that this service is for everyone and my sole purpose is to make sure the majority have a service they are happy with and can use without issue.
Hopefully in the next month or so we will be moving to 4 meg, Gaming may possibly then be allowed but it wont be a free service, because of the extra costs involved in supplying bandwidth to gamers, if people want to use such a service, they will have to pay for it so more to come there. However... saying all that.. I am more than happy to start a gaming service if enough gamers can pull together to pay for it, the costs involved is £7,500 a year for an extra 2 meg service, while this sounds expensive, this is what it would cost us for an extra line, so the option is there if enough people want it.
I would like to take this oppertunity to to say thank you to those who did abide by the rules and play after midnight, I'm sorry you have been effected by this restriction but I won't forget how you abided with the rules and as such will reward you in due course.
Chris
