As some of you have read, Christopher Marson and his partner are trying to setup a new village shop for Northlew.
Since 2008 Northlew has been without any sort of store although valiant efforts by those in the church room have made sure there is a level of service to us all. There has been though growing concern that a lack of shop is both causing issues with retaining some of the older generation who feel if ever their driving licence is withdrawn they would struggle for basic needs. Equally, house prices are redcuced on average by 10% due to lack of services. Having a village shop would improve both of those issues and also make living in Northlew a lot easier when you run out of a bag of sugar!
A number of people who currently sell within the village have approached me where we could sell local bread/cakes/wine/arts and crafts and long term we could look at a small tea room for villagers to meet and chat over tea and a cake.
We are currently looking at selling everything from newspapers to a pack of local sausages our aim is to have as many local produce as possible.
While this is a community venture the goal is to make money so that it suceeds and as such we need the support of the whole village, so that no money is wasted, we need to be sure that the shop will be supported; as such, please, please complete the very short survey below which will help us work out what we should sell, this part of the process is essential.
